The Manhattan District Attorney's Office is teaming up with former convicts to bring big flavors to hungry New Yorkers.

Drive Change's "Snow Day" Food Truck was serving up some locally-sourced goodies yesterday in Lower Manhattan for the DA's first ever "Food Truck Friday."

Drive Change helps train and employ formerly incarcerated youth.

The organization says it hopes the event helps put participants on the right path in life.

"We're just trying to really broaden access to opportunity for young people. We believe that when you actually do have options, you can make really solid decisions and live very, very great, bright futures,” says the organization's founder, Jordyn Lexton.

“I was all aboard. It's unbelievable. It's kind of breath-taking to know that every day when I put on my shirt and my pants, that I'm actually going out and changing something,” says Drive Change liaison Fredrick Coleman.

“This isn't just about getting a grilled cheese sandwich. This is about a special social justice movement and Drive Change is on the front of it and we're very honored and pleased that they'd come down here," says Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance Jr.

The DA’s office says they hope to have more "Food Truck Fridays" throughout the summer.
