The controversy over the so-called "poor door" doesn't seem to have dampened interest in affordable rentals in a new Manhattan building.

The building located at Riverside Boulevard and West 62nd Street has two doors - one entrance for the market-rate tenants, another for low-income tenants.

According to the New York Times, the building has received more than 88,000 applications for just 55 affordable apartments.

The developer drew criticism last year for creating a so-called "poor door" for tenants in the low-cost section of the building.
