Earth Day isn't until Wednesday, but the global celebration has already kicked off here in the city.

Earth Day New York is hosted a huge outdoor event in Union Square Park Sunday. It's also a celebration of the organization's 25th anniversary hosting events in the five boroughs.

Many local and national businesses will be featuring their products in hopes they can get visitors thinking about the small changes they can make to help themselves and the planet.

"Today's event incudes dozens of different exhibitors, environmental nonprofit, local businesses, kids performances, kids activities, just a huge range of different things going on," says executive director John Opperman.

"Basically trying to tell people that a small change to eat more veggie can have a big impact on you for a brighter today and a brighter tomorrow," said another person.

The event runs through 7 p.m. Sunday night.
