Cablevision is ready to make an offer to buy the Daily News for less than the cost of a single issue.

According to published reports, the cable company plans to offer one dollar for the newspaper.

The Daily News is currently losing $30 million a year, and has seen declining circulation rates and ad revenues.

Daily News owner Mortimer Zuckerman announced he was considering a sale of the paper last month.

The New York Post says Zuckerman is hoping to sell the paper for between $150 million and $200 million.

Cablevision already owns the Long Island newspaper Newsday.
