One week after a 76-year-old woman was grazed by a bullet outside a Harlem supermarket, members of the community are calling attention to recent violence in the area.

A meeting was held Monday outside the Key Food on West 139th Street.

Community leaders say there have been four shootings and two stabbings in the neighborhood since mid-February.

A 51-year-old man was shot outside the store last Monday.

Police say he was the intended target.

Mildred Mahazu, a neighborhood resident, was grazed on the neck.

She says she's concerned about the uptick in violence.

"I think it's awful you can't come outside your house. I've been in this neighborhood for 25 years," said Mahazu. "And if I go anywhere else, it's trouble all over the world. Where am I gonna go?"

"We have to decide that we want good community. We have to decide that we want to take a stand for good community, and that we have to take the positive steps for good community. Because it's not going to come by osmosis," said one Harlem resident.

Event organizers say they want the NYPD to do a better job coordinating with community members and clergy.
