A man already serving two consecutive life sentences for two separate murders committed more than three decades ago has admitted to a third.

Jesus Aguilera, 61, was previously convicted of two killings that took place within days of one another in 1981, one in Manhattan and the other in the Bronx.

In 2010, DNA evidence linked him to a third murder that happened later that year, and earlier this month, Aguilera changed his plea in that case to guilty.

The Department of Correction says the admission effectively makes Aguilera a serial killer.

He was given another 15 years to life in prison.
