A beloved Jesuit school in Harlem will soon be closing its doors.

The Saint Aloysius School on 132nd Street and 7th Avenue is set to close at the end of the school year.

It serves more than 200 students in kindergarten through eighth grade and has been open for more than 70 years.

The school's president says its Board of Trustees voted to shut down the school after struggling to raise money.

She says it doesn't have enough resources to survive another year, despite multiple fundraising campaigns and a plan to increase tuition.

"It's about needing time and money," the board president said. "Money buys us some time, but we ran short, we ran well short in order to open for next year."

"I'm devastated by it," said a parent. "I went here as a child and now to see it close, I actually have no words."

The school says it plans to remain open until August 31 and will hold all programs scheduled throughout the Summer.
