Police officials outlined their plans Friday for boosting security during the year's Halloween festivities, including the Village Halloween parade.

The NYPD says there will be a strong police presence during the parade with uniformed and undercover officers on the streets.

NYPD say 1.3 million people participated in the parade last year, and they expect the same crowds this year.

"We will be having a detail over there, we will have our usual counterterrorism overlay for the detail," NYPD chief of Patrol Terence Monahan said. "We will have seen and unseen resources working through the parade – our CRG, our CRC will be there. We will have long guns in and around the area."

Police officials say New Yorkers should also expect increased police presence in their neighborhoods to keep trick-or-treaters safe.

"We give them extra resources on that night," Monahan said. "Every commanding officer of every precinct will be working that night from six o'clock to two in the morning. So we have executive coverage and we have extra patrol coverages. This way we can make sure kids can go out, trick-or-treat and have a safe Halloween."

The NYPD says they do not know of any threats against the parade or trick-or-treaters at this point.
