Niagara Falls residents who rely on their feet to get around are having a tough time lately.

The city’s streets are mostly cleared of snow, making easy work of commuting for drivers.

But pedestrians aren’t having the same luck.

Niagara Falls Councilman Kenny Tompkins addressed his concerns about snowy sidewalks that haven’t been cleared during the council meeting Wednesday.

His biggest concern is people feeling they have no option but to walk in the street due to impassable sidewalks.

“If it’s that bad out, cars are going to be sliding and slipping in to something,” he said.

Tompkins wants to enforce the city’s requirements for businesses to clean the sidewalks in front of their establishments.
