Every year runners get up bright and early on Thanksgiving so they can hit the pavement. From the Southern Tier to the North Country, hundreds participate in Turkey Trots.

In Utica, the Road Runners hosted their 33rd annual Run for Hunger 5k. Every runner was asked to bring at least two non-perishable food items to donate to local food pantries.

At Ostiningo Park in Binghamton nearly 700 runners crossed the finish line for the Pete Keyes Turkey Trot, all the proceeds from which go to high school scholarships.

On the roads of Watertown more than 1,000 people participated in in the 34th annual YMCA Turkey Run, which has become a holiday tradition for many.
