The Yankees dropped Game 1 of the ALCS in Houston Friday night.

The Astros broke through with two runs off Masahiro Tanaka in the bottom of the 4th inning.

The Yankees had a chance to get back in the game in the 5th inning on a base hit by Aaron Judge, but Greg Bird was thrown out at home.

The Yankees finally got on the board on a solo homer by Bird with two outs in the 9th, but Jacoby Ellsbury struck out to end the game.

The Astros won 2-1 and lead the series 1-0.

Game 2 is Saturday at 4 p.m., also in Houston. Luis Severino starts opposite Justin Verlander.

The series will then shift to the Bronx for the next three games, starting Monday night.
