A well-known city pastor is leaving President Trump's religious council.
Reverend A.R. Bernard, who serves at the Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn, announced his decision Friday night to leave Trump's evangelical council.
In an interview with CNN's Don Lemon, Bernard said he has different values than the Trump Administration:
Bernard: We think, as Christians, as evangelicals — and we're not monolithic. We vary in our views concerning certain things. But we think redemptively. We think with hope. And we all went in — at least I did, and those who expressed it to me — believing that we could influence some kind of change.
Lemon: And you don't think that that can happen?
Bernard: I have lost that kind of thinking.
Meanwhile, billionaire investor Carl Icahn will no longer serve as an informal adviser to Trump. He had been giving the White House advice on its deregulation efforts.
President Trump dissolved two of his business councils earlier this week.
