BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The FDNY is investigating what sparked a four-alarm fire early Monday in Brooklyn.

Fire officials say it started around 6 a.m. inside a two-story commercial building located at 2811 Mermaid Avenue in Coney Island.

When fire crews arrived at the scene they found thick smoke coming from the building.

At the height of the fire, the FDNY had about 170 firefighters trying to get the fire under control.

Three of them were treated and evaluated at the scene.
