Brooklyn's beloved "Mrs. C" gets a special tribute in her neighborhood.

The family of Carmela Casamento dedicated a plaque in her honor on Avenue U and McDonald Avenue Monday.

Casamento, who went by Mrs. C, was famous throughout the city and Long Island for her mozzarella and other imported Italian cheeses at Eagle Cheese Company in Gravesend.

She sold the store in 2013 . Mrs. C passed away last year.

Her family says her legacy continues to live on in the community.

"As soon as you met her, you wanted to talk to her. She was very engaging. And she made you feel comfortable. And you didn't feel like you were out of place," said Casamento's son-in-law Gary Nielsen.

Casamento's family will also try to get the corner of Avenue U and McDonald Avenue renamed in her honor.
