NEW YORK - Comic Con-goer Aaron Thompson was in full character Friday, wearing a costume he worked on all summer in anticipation of New York Comic Con.

"It's the only time in my entire long year that I really feel like a rock star," stated Thompson.

He's not the only one. New York Comic Con has taken over the Javits Center through Sunday, the largest pop culture event on the east coast with the latest in comics, graphic novels, anime, toys, video games, movies and TV. Events here and at other locations in town are expected to attract a record quarter of a million fans.

"The content that we have this year is better than anything we have ever seen," said Mike Armstrong, Event Director at ReedPop New York Comic Con.

In addition to taking in the wild, sometimes creepy get-ups worn by many of the Comic Con attendees, there's a ton of stuff to buy such as hard-to-get collectibles that folks line up for. Plus, there are activities for kids of all ages. You can hang out with the Loud Family from Nickelodeon's Loud House, fight like a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, or do some Jedi Training.

Of course, there are plenty of comics. Brooklyn's own JayDee Rosario of Unstoppable Comics says its like having the home field advantage.

"If I do something overseas, or even on the west coast, traveling expenses won't allow me to even set something like this up, right? Here, we can bring the whole kit and kaboodle and really stand out among the crowd," stated Rosario.

And it's some crowd. Hela from Thor: Ragnorak hanging with the Hulk; there are some heroes and plenty of villains, too. Not to mention the hot video game of the moment, Fortnight Dancing. And did I mention the costumes? Cosplay is where it's at during this four-day event.

"It's amazing to be with like-minded individuals in a safe environment where we can do this at. This is a haven for us," said cosplayer Devon Thomas.
