A Council Member from Queens is getting a whole lot of attention after a video he shared on social media went viral.

The video shows Council Member Francisco Moya rescuing a cat off the Long Island Expressway on May 18th.

The Dodo, which distributes digital content focused on animals, reposted video this weekend and it garnered more than 746,000 views by Sunday night.

Moya told NY1 that he saw the cat along the LIE near 99th street in Corona on his way into City Hall.

Hours later he went back to see if the animal was still there and it was.

Moya said he's had cats all his life and wanted to help.

The council member pulled over along the busy roadway to get the cat out of danger.

"You could tell the moment I approached him, he just really wanted to be rescued. He let me pick him up. I was afraid because I didn’t want to scare him as I was approaching him and I drove as close as I could with the window open thinking just in case if he leaps, he'll leap right into the window," Moya said.

After feeding the cat, Moya turned it over to NYC Animal Care and Control.

NYC ACC had the cat fixed and its since been place at a no kill shelter in Brooklyn.

A litte more than a week ago, Moya stopped the Brooklyn Cat Café for a reunion with the cat he refers to as "Big Boy".
