Hundreds of dogs gathered in lower Manhattan on Saturday for the "Best Dog Day Ever."

Publisher "The Dodo", which creates content featuring animals, held its first event at Brookfield Place.

Organizers billed the event as a way for the Dodo to branch out and thank some of their fans in real life.

Pet owners and their four-legged buddies were treated to a day of fun in the sun and a chance to scoop up some freebies.

Attendees could enjoy a little dog paddling, a photo shoot, try out an on-site agility course or spend some time in a dog-friendly ball pit.

The event also featured an adoption area for those looking to take home a new best friend.
