Rescue dogs braved some bad weather on Sunday, all for a second chance at finding a forever home.

Bad Ass Brooklyn Animal Rescue hosted "SummerFest" in Gowanus on Sunday.

The event helps connect dogs from high-kill shelters with loving families.

Along with getting the opportunity to find a new best friend, dog lovers were invited to spend a little time at the doggie kissing booth or to take in a pet fashion show.

"Dogs are awesome, they're a great part of your life; and bringing a dog into your life, yes, it's a lot of work but it's also really rewarding and we have an entire community that's here to support you and have a lot of fun," said organizer Krista MacDonald.

Organizers said they want to encourage all New Yorkers to adopt their pets because  they estimate more than 1.5 million dogs and cats are euthanized each year across the country.
