An old bank building in Brooklyn is now a city landmark.

The city's Landmark Preservation Commission voted this week to give the Dime Savings Bank of Williamsburg on Havemeyer Street protected status.

It was selected for its elegant design and historical association with Williamsburg's development as a financial center.

The bank was built between 1906 and 1908 during a time of neighborhood growth by the construction of the Williamsburg Bridge.

Over the years the building has maintained its original design and signage.
