AUSTIN, Texas -- The Fairmont Hotel in downtown Austin was evacuated Wednesday afternoon.

The Austin Fire Department reported that it received a call for elevated levels of carbon monoxide around 4 p.m. Floors 1 thorugh 7 were evacuated and two people were transported by EMS for further evaluation. 

The hotel is still under construction and only workers and employees were evacuated.

Portions of surrounding streets were closed while authorities worked the scene. The cause of the carbon monoxide was later determined to be boiler exhaust which was spread back into the building through a fresh air intake.
