THOMPSON, N.Y. -- The crowds piled into the brand new Resorts World Catskill casino early Thursday morning.
It’s been years’ worth of planning, designing, and building, but opening day has finally come.
And visitors have come from all over to check out the casino. People couldn't wait to get into the casino for day one.
The Las Vegas-style gaming casino is exciting to locals looking for a big gaming atmosphere in a small town community.
Many have anticipated the opening, and came from outside the Hudson Valley to be here.
Over the hours more and more people have come in to see what Resorts World Catskills has to offer, and to see if Lady Luck will help them out.
The new 18-story hotel, casino and entertainment complex sits in the town of Thompson.
The casino floor boasts 150 live gaming tables, more than 2,100 slot machines, a poker room and private gaming rooms. Plus, the resort also includes an indoor waterpark lodge.
There was a crowd waiting at the door for the doors to open Thursday morning.
