Four people escaped a fire in St. Lawrence County on Thursday morning.

Firefighters were called to a home on Water Street in Morristown around 7:30.

Crews originally believed people may have been trapped inside.

A father and his three children were able to get out, but sustained minor injuries.

The children escaped from a second-floor window and the father from a first-floor window.

They are being treated at a nearby hospital.

Firefighters said the cause was likely electrical, due to running space heaters.

"This house was being heated by space heaters,” said Morristown Fire Department Chief Jay Moore. “Anybody that uses space heaters needs to be cautious of what they're using not only from the heat that comes from the unit itself but the power that it draws through the house."

Investigators said the home was a total loss.
