Staten Island may have been getting less financial support for veterans than other boroughs.

U.S. Congressman Dan Donovan is calling on the Department of Defense to expedite a study of Staten Island housing costs for student-veterans in Willowbrook.

Currently, the stipend that's given to veterans going to college on Staten Island is 52 percent less than other boroughs.  Something students and educators want to see change.

College of Staten Island President, William J Fritz says "our veteran students tell us that they are paying as much and even more for housing then residents of some of  the other boroughs. And so I think it's time for whatever the reasons for that historical imbalance I think it's time to correct that."

NY1 has reached out to the Department of Defense for a comment.
