A Queens state senator wants the city's ferry service to phase in free transfers to and from MTA buses and trains.

As the new state legislative session begins, Senator Joseph Addabbo wants to begin the discussion to have NYC Ferry provide free transfers for riders that can be used on all MTA buses and trains. Right now , ferry riders have to pay a $2.75 fare for a one-way ticket on the ferry and an additional $2.75 for any MTA bus or train they need to continue their commute.

Addabbo says by providing a free transfer between the two modes of transportation he hopes to streamline the travel process for the thousands of people who use NYC Ferry. A spokesperson for the city's economic development corporation tells NY1 as the MTA works to implement a new fare system NYCEDC will continue to discuss opportunities to integrate payment options.
