Police are investigating an attack on a man in Manhattan on Saturday they say ended with a subway train hitting him.

Police said the men seen above approached a 41-year-old man who waiting for the Q train at the Union Square subway station around 3:04 a.m.

They punched the victim in the head, causing him to fall to the floor. He came close enough to the platform edge that his head was hit by a train pulling into the station at that moment, the police department said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he is being treated for a fractured face and skull and bleeding on the brain.
