Human rights groups protest in Washington Square Park against President Trump's travel ban Thursday night.

On Monday, the Supreme Court reinstated a ban on residents of eight countries — six of them with a Muslim majority.

Advocates and members of the New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, held a rally to express concern over the ban, as well as the GOP tax reform bill and the effort to lift protections for DACA recipients.

"I believe it goes against my rights as an immigrant, as a veteran," said one protester. "I served in the United States Army and I did not serve for this. I served for the freedom of all."

"After the 2016 election a lot of Americans have not been supportive of one another and have been more blatantly racist and xenophobic I should say, and I feel that standing in solidarity just one more person that comes and joins the protest, it's one more voice that's being heard," said another.

CAIR-NY says anyone who thinks they may be impacted by the travel ban should contact the organization.
