AUSTIN, Texas — An Austin man was arrested after police say he attacked an Austin Police officer on the side of a highway on Nov. 24.

Officers said they were trying to move a disabled vehicle when Southern Longoria, 23, shouted an obscenity at an officer when he was asked to move.

Longoria then charged at the officer, with arms flailing, and landed one punch on the officer's chest. According to the affidavit, it seemed as if Longoria was going to push the officer into oncoming traffic.

The officer was not injured. Police said they had to sit on Longoria's feet to arrest him as he was trying to kick the officer.

Longoria was taken to the Travis County Jail and given a $10,000 bond.
