A Thanksgiving meal in Coney Island feeds people’s stomachs and souls.

One thousand hungry New Yorkers got a warm Thanksgiving dinner at the Coney Island Gospel Assembly's annual meal Thursday.

The church started the tradition about 40 years ago.

Members also deliver meals to people’s homes and to the local fire and sanitation departments.

Organizers hope attendees feel the love.

"So many people are lonely and alone and they need people around them that know what family is about so they can be part of a family," said Constance SanFilippo Hulla,  Pastor with The Coney Island Gospel Assembly.

The church also hosts meals on Christmas Day and Easter.
