Several Brooklyn students are being recognized for their random acts of kindness.

It's all part of a program at The New American Charter School in Canarsie.  The school has been keeping track of when students go out of their way to be kind to one another.  Each act of kindness earns the students a heart.  Three students from each grade were acknowledged in the morning announcements Monday.  They also got to wear a sash...all in conjunction with World Kindness Day.

"I helped a kindergardener out when nobody would play with him because, because they thought he couldn't play basketball but I played with him," said Student Nakaij Woodriffe.

The class with the most hearts at the end of each month receives a pizza party. The program will continue all year long.
