A day after police shot and killed an emotionally disturbed man, a Brooklyn community is looking for answers.

Activists and elected officials stood in solidarity with Dwayne Jeune's parents in front of the victim's apartment.

They're calling for an investigation into the shooting.

Jeune's mother called police Monday afternoon asking for help. Police say when they arrived, he lunged at them with a knife.

After an attempt to tase him didn't work, an officer shot him five times, according to the NYPD.

Jeune's father Vibert says his son had problems, but he was not a bad person.

"You call upon those you believe will help you, and all they do is to kill," Vibert Jeune said.

"My office is demanding that within 60 days, a task force not only be complete, have started, but completed an investigation, top to bottom, of what the protocol is with emotionally disturbed people and what changes are going to be made," said City Councilman Jumaane Williams of Brooklyn.

Police say of the four officers who responded, three of them had special training in dealing with emotionally disturbed people, but the one who fired the shots did not.
