The Secret Service says a laptop was stolen from the car of one of its agents in Brooklyn on Thursday.

Police say the laptop was stolen outside a home in Bath Beach.

It does not appear the agent was targeted because she was a Secret Service agent, according to sources.

The Secret Service says its computers are encrypted. Sources say it would be difficult for someone to get the information off such a laptop.

The agency also says Secret Service laptops are not allowed to have classified information on them. Sources tell NY1 the information on the laptop is considered sensitive, but not classified or top secret.

The Secret Service is asking anyone with information on the incident to contact its field office in Brooklyn at 718-840-1000. Anyone with info can also call the NYPD.
