A Queens woman was killed earlier this week by her dog. And a young Brooklyn boy was mauled by a dog in his own home Friday night. The boy remains in serious condition at the hospital.

It happened on Riverdale Avenue near Georgia Avenue in East New York.

Police say a pit-bull attacked 5-year old Jeremiah Rivera just before 7 p.m. Friday.

They say he was bitten on his head and neck and was taken to Long Island Jewish Medical Center.

Jeremiah's uncle says the boy will survive, but his face will never be the same again.

"They don't seem that mean at all, all of a sudden they just snapped," he said. "They took his face off and it's horrible."

"These homeowners should not have these dangerous dogs in their apartments, especially around children," said a neighbor. "They can maul you and kill you, I just hope the little child pulls through."

"I would probably kill the dog, I'm sorry," said another.

The boy's uncle says there are two pit-bulls in the home and that they only leave their cage to go on walks.

Police say both dogs were taken to Animal Care and Control.
