A man was struck and killed by a car in Brooklyn Friday evening, and police are searching for the driver of the car that hit him.

Authorities say they responded to reports of a pedestrian struck in front of 3044 Avenue V in Sheepshead Bay just after 8 p.m. Friday and found 28-year-old Francis Perez unconscious and unresponsive with severe head trauma.

Police say Perez was trying to cross Avenue V outside of the crosswalk when he was struck by a blue Toyota SUV or minivan heading westbound on Avenue V.

The driver of the car fled the scene after striking the pedestrian, according to police.

Perez was taken to Coney Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made.
