The legal battle over some bike lanes in Brooklyn has come to an end.

Opponents of the bike lanes on Prospect Park West have dropped their lawsuit against the city.

Since 2011, the group "Neighbors for Better Bike Lanes" claimed the lanes created additional traffic and were a safety hazard for pedestrians.

They also said the Transportation Department falsely promoted the lanes as temporary.

Moving forward, the group says it hopes to ensure they're as safe as possible.

The city says it's pleased the suit was dropped and maintains that the bike lanes are both safe and supported by the community.
