Two red panda cubs - a boy and a girl - made their grand debut Monday at Brooklyn's Prospect Park Zoo.

They were born over the summer.

Red Panda's are natives of the eastern portion of the Himalayas.

They are born with very soft, plush light brown coat that eventually becomes rougher as they grow older.

Red pandas have been declared a vulnerable species due to habitat loss caused by deforestation for timber and fuel.

The pair is part of a breeding program aimed at saving animal populations in zoos.
