The Brooklyn Heights Library is starting a new chapter.

A developer has unveiled the provisional designs for the skyscraper that will replace the library, located at 280 Cadman Plaza West, with a brand new facility.

The 36-story tower will house a new 21,500 square foot public library, 139 condominium units and two retail spaces on Clinton Street.

The project entered the city's land use review process on Monday.

Once built, the new library will have its main entrance on Cadman Plaza West and will spread out over three levels.

The president of Brooklyn Public Library is calling it an important step toward providing residents the world-class library they deserve.
