In honor of Women's History Month, Long Island University is hosting a photography exhibit featuring portraits of female artists.

Titled "One Hundred Portraits: Women Artists", the photographs were taken in the homes and studios of artists around the world.

Photo subjects range from well-known art luminaries to up and comers.

The photographer behind the collection says her pictures help give a face to artists, who are often better remembered for their artwork than as individuals.

"It kind of gives a seriousness to this, and these women need to be taken seriously. They're very committed to their work, they're intelligent, hardworking, and yet most people don't have any idea what they look like," said Photographer Barbara Yoshida.

The exhibit will be on display at LIU's Salena Gallery through March 27.
