A Hollywood director returns to his middle school alma mater in Coney Island.

Academy Award nominee Darren Aronofsky was inducted into the Mark Twain Middle School for the Gifted and Talented alumni hall of fame.

Aronofsky graduated in 1983 and said a poem he wrote in his seventh grade English class inspired his most recent film, "Noah". A plaque was dedicated in his honor.

"It's very touching and it's always nice to reconnect to your memories and be back in Coney Island which was such a big influence on me for so long," said Aronofsky.

"We are really happy to have Darren Aronofsky come back to our school and celebrate with us and share his success story," said Principal Karen Ditolla.

The alumni hall of fame was launched last year with Academy Award winner Louis Gossett Jr. as the first inductee.
