A third section of Crown Heights is getting its own historic district.

The new district is just east of the other two, which were landmarked in 2007 and 2011.

It'll protect more than 600 buildings, some of which date back to 1870.

Other significant buildings include the Shaari Zedek Synagogue, built in 1925.

The Landmarks Preservation Commission says the neighborhood is culturally and architecturally significant.

Among other things, it's the former home of the first black congresswoman, Shirley Chisholm.
