Accused terrorist Abid Naseer took the stand in his own defense for a second day in Brooklyn federal court Thursday.

Naseer claimed his only online chatter was in dating chat rooms to pick up women. He again denied any connection or correspondence with al-Qaeda.

Naseer explained his e-mail exchanges, saying they were intended to find someone of the Muslim faith to marry. His emails referred to weddings, marriage and parties. He often wrote of his affair with Nadia, who he testified was a possible romantic interest

Prosecutors say Nadia is a code word for bomb. They say references to parties and weddings were secret al-Qaeda messages for terrorist attacks.

On cross examination they combed through the emails trying to highlight Naseer's inconsistencies and undermine his credibility.

Naseer faces conspiracy charges in planning and supporting al-Qaeda bomb plots both in the U.S. and abroad including the foiled attempt targeting the New York City subway.

His testimony is expected to continue Friday.
