A construction worker was crushed to death at Barclays Center in Brooklyn Tuesday.

Police say the 52-year-old was killed around 1:30 p.m. when four steel beams fell on him in the arena's loading dock.

He was a member of the crew installing Barclays' green roof.

Investigators believe the victim may have accidentally hit the emergency release button causing the load to come down on him.

He was declared dead at the scene.

The company behind the project released a statement saying: "We are all devastated by what happened. All of us at Greenland Forest City Ratner Partners and Barclays Center extend our most heart-felt condolences to the worker's family and friends. We are currently working with all relevant agencies to determine what caused this terrible tragedy."

This is not the first problem associated with this project.

On December 16, the installation of the green roof caused a leak, delaying a Nets game that night.
