The family of a Brooklyn man killed at a housing project earlier this week is looking for answers.

Police say 20-year-old Kevin Colon was shot three times in the lobby of the Whitman Houses in Fort Greene.

His family tells us Colon, who lives with his mother, went out to get her food Thursday afternoon. They say after he was shot he managed to make it back up the stairs where he met his mother.

He died shortly thereafter. Colon's family says he was a loving person and they do not know why anyone would want to hurt him.

Now, they're asking that anyone with information come forward.

"I told my son I love him. It's never going to be the same," said Sally Colon, the victim’s mother.

"The way he died he did not deserve it. So, we're just asking the public to please say whatever, do whatever, whatever you see any little details, anything that could help. Because he was somebody everyone loved. He was loved by many. And so we just need the public's help," said the victim’s sister, Jessica Ruiz.

The family says they want NYCHA to install surveillance cameras outside the building. Police continue their investigation.
