Organizers of the DUMBO Arts Festival in Brooklyn say the event will not be returning.

They say they're scrapping the annual festival that's taken place the past 18 years.

It originally started as a grassroots event to promote DUMBO's art scene.

The festival attracted more than 220,000 people last year.

Organizers thanked supporters, but say the event became too commercialized and they can't keep it up without compromising its original mission.
