NEWARK, N.Y. — Newark police have made an arrest after a man died after a fight in September.

Lorimus Desius, 27, is charged with two counts each of second and third degree assault.

Police say he was fighting with 27-year-old Frederick Thomas III on September 22nd on East Avenue in Newark.

When they say Thomas attempted to back off, Desius continued assaulting him until he fell backward striking his head as he fell.

He was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital where he died several days later from a fractured skull.

Desius was being held on weapons possession charges until an indictment was unsealed for his arrest on assault charges.

He's being held in the Seneca County Jail on $15,000 cash or $30,000 bond. He's due back in court December 14th.
