The Yankees topped the Mets 4-1 in Game 1 of the latest Subway Series Friday night at Citi Field.

Brett Gardner hit a two-run home run in the top of the eighth inning off Jacob deGrom to break a 1-1 tie.

Giancarlo Stanton added a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to finish off the 4-1 win.

Brandon Nimmo drove in the Mets' only run with a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning.

The Mets have lost seven games in a row.

The teams meet again Saturday night and Sunday night in Queens. They then play three more games in the Bronx in July.
