The New York Islanders make a bid to return to Long Island.

The hockey team submitted a proposal to develop a new arena at Belmont Park in Nassau County.

It would be right near the famous horse racing track, home to the Belmont Stakes.

Several partners helped the team put their bid together, including the owners of the Mets.

The developer has not commented on details of the bid.

The Islanders have been playing at the Barclays Center since 2015, after relocating from Nassau Coliseum.

Their lease has an opt-out clause that allows the team to leave Brooklyn after the upcoming season.
