NEW YORK - The Archdiocese of New York has paid sexual abuse victims nearly $60 million over the last two years.

It's a staggering number that shows the scope of the scandal.

So far, 278 victims have been paid though the church's Independent Reconciliation and Compensation Program.

Abuse survivors can submit claims to the archdiocese, which will then decide the appropriate action.

Victims have three months after receiving an offer from administrators to respond.
