A Bronx teenager who was severely injured when an NYPD sergeant threw him through a plate-glass window has settled a civil lawsuit with the city.

Javier Payne was 14 years old in 2014, when Sergeant Eliezer Pabon handcuffed him and pushed him through the front window of a convenience store on Arthur Avenue. Payne's mother sued the city. She accused Pabon of excessive force and the store of negligence. The city settled the suit for almost one million dollars. Pabon has agreed to pay $2,500 and the building owner $5,000, because the glass was damaged.

Payne's encounter with police happened when he and a 13-year-old friend were arrested after they allegedly punched a man they had asked for a cigarette.
