A Bronx grandmother says she is afraid to leave her home after two men robbed her in an apartment building last week.

"I told him, 'It's okay, okay. I'm going to give you my purse,' But he kept going," the victim said through a translator. "I thought it was my time to go."

It happened last Sunday around 5:10 p.m. as the 63-year-old woman returned from a trip to the grocery store.

The woman said as she was walking towards the building, she made sure to look back, and saw was no one behind her. But as she entered the building on Leggett Ave., where she was visiting her daughter, the men followed her inside.

She told NY1 in Spanish that one of the men covered her mouth and slammed her to the ground as his accomplice watched.

As they struggled for her purse, one of the men pulled out a knife, slicing the straps of her purse, along with one of her fingers. The wound needed seven stitches.

"He said, 'Out,' telling me to leave," the victim said. "So I ran up the stairs, and my legs were shaking."

She said a neighbor came to her rescue and called police.

The city police department said the men fled with the 63-year-old's credit cards, $200 in cash, and some documents.

The victim, a retired social worker and housekeeper with three grandchildren, said Sunday was the first time in the past week she has left her home since the attack because she has been so afraid.

The two men seen in the video above are wanted in connection with the attack.

No arrests have been made as of this time.
