The driver of a rented tractor trailer says he is lucky to be alive after slamming into an overpass in the Bronx late Friday morning.

It happened along the southbound Hutchinson River Parkway.

The roof of the trailer completely ripped off when it struck the Westchester Avenue overpass.

This parkway is for passenger vehicles only.

No trucks or commerical vehicles are permitted due to the low overpass heights.

The driver claims this was his first time driving that type of truck.

There were no other reported injuries.
